What is the Swim Oconee Aquatic Club?
Swim Oconee Aquatic Club is a year-round USA Swimming team located in Watkinsville offering instruction,
training, and competition to young people of all abilities. Members of Swim Oconee learn the values of
sportsmanship and teamwork while building physical, emotional and intellectual skills that will last a lifetime.
Who can join?
Anyone can join at any time! We have programs for children of all abilities including beginners! However, we
are not a learn to swim program. Swimmers must be able to swim the length of a 25 yard pool.
Who is on the coaching staff?
Chip Holland has been involved in Athens-area swimming since 1981, both as an athlete and a coach. A four-
year letterman and team captain at Cedar Shoals High School, he competed collegiately at Georgia Southern
College in Statesboro. Chip has coached in Oconee County since 2007, beginning with the Oconee Swim
League as well as with Oconee County High School. He has also coached the Oconee County Parks &
Recreation All-Star Team. Chip shares his love of the sport with all ages and abilities, helping them become
better swimmers and achieve their competitive goals. Chip is a USA Swimming and ASCA Level 2 Certified
coach.
Where do we swim?
Swim Oconee practices at the Oconee Club located at the corner of Burr Harris Road and Robinhood Drive in
Watkinsville.
